The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) disciplinary committee has handed a four match touchline ban to coaches Mike Mutebi (KCCA) and Sam Ssimbwa (URA).
The two coaches have been found guilty of airing comments that ‘brought the game into disrepute’. The two had earlier this year, appeared in the committee to explain their comments.
During a KCCA FC organized sendoff party for the former KCCA ED Jennifer Musisi, Mutebi commented that the club had a special budget to ‘buy’ matches and all their trophies won in the last 20 years were fixed.
“What I said I put my arm there to be sacrificed because what I said is true. All the titles that have been won in the last 20 years have been fixed. It is not only KCCA. Villa, Express, URA and others. It is known but because some of you are not candid and frank. You know these things but fear. I am honest,” Mutebi said on December 17.
However, according to the football governing body, the remarks by the KCCA FC gaffer were in bad faith and tarnished the image of the game of football which warranted a heavy punishment to Mutebi.
On Wednesday, the disciplinary committee announced a ban had been slapped to KCCA FC’s head coach Mutebi for bringing the game of football into disgrace.
“Coach Mike Mutebi of KCCA FC has been banned for four matches for bringing the game into disrepute,” FUFA said in a statement on Wednesday.
URA’s Ssimbwa on the other hand, aired out tribal comments during a post-match interview in Jinja after URA were held by Kirinya Jinja SS in a league game.
These two along with Bright Stars’ Fred Kajoba have also been handed a Shs 2 Million fine.
For Kajoba, he has been found guilty of leading his technical bench to the field of play in a game against Tooro United as they protested a penalty decision which brought the game at standstill for about two minutes.
