Celebrated city events promoter, Balaam Barugahara has described Bobi Wine as his personal friend but differ in political ideology adding that the singing-turned-politician Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine does not respect President Museveni.
“Bobi Wine is my personal friend but we differ in political ideology. But I always tell him, his disrespectful to the president by referring to him as akasajja ako and etc. All I require of president Museveni is to fight poverty before he retires,” Balaam said in a phone interview during the Capital Gang show on Saturday.
Balaam added that he has been supporting president Museveni since his childhood and his support for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is not about receiving hefty payments for organizing the party events.
“I have been an NRM supporter since Childhood, I am a patriotic Ugandan, I have a national ID. I have seen the achievements of NRM since I was a child. The NRM party gives me those deals after competing for them with other events organizers through bidding, ” he said.
Balaam has however continued to dismiss the allegations of registering people power, a political party spearheaded by Bobi Wine as an NGO.
According to him, People Power was registered by People’s Meritocracy Party, a political party that has been traversing the country for the last two years canvassing for support ahead of the 2021 general elections.
“I don’t own people power. It has been registered by a party called People’s Meritocracy Party. I don’t know where that party is but they sent me copy of the letter asking me never to tamper with the People Power slogan or use the color red among others,” he said.
