The retired Bishop of Busoga Diocese, Rt Rev Cyprian Bamwoze died early on Monday Morning after a long battle with cancer.
Bamwoze breathed his last at the Mulago Cancer Institute.
The Anglican Church has confirmed the death.
“The Busoga College Mwiri alumni with deep sorrow announce the death of Emeritus Bishop Cyprian Bamwoze. Bishop Bamwoze has been an active OB of the college,” the announcement reads.
He did a lot as the Bishop of Busoga Diocese to steer and keep Busoga College Mwiri as the leading traditional school in Busoga and Uganda at large, said the alumni.
“It is of no surprise that Mwiri has given birth to many scholars and prominent Ugandans in the different professions and trades. May His Soul Rest in Peace.”
Bishop Bamwoze was the first Bishop of Busoga Diocese being consecrated in 1972 after the creation of Busoga Diocese from Namirembe.
Bamwoze retired in 1998 and was succeeded by Dr. Michael Kyomya.
