Opposition lynchpin Col Dr. Kizza Besigye has offered to raise school fees for Deogloria Virtue Ejang, a  girl who emerged best in the 2018 Primary Leaving Examinations in Northern Uganda but had failed to  join secondary school over lack of tuition.

Ejang scored aggregate four (4) in the 2018 PLE, and while at St Kizito, she studied on bursary because of her discipline.

Her father Bosco Ogwang is a primary teacher at a community school in Otuke and paid by parents. He only earns about a hundred thousand shillings on a monthly basis.

Following a Daily Monitor story on her plight, Dr Besigye reached out to the family and offered to pay for Ejang’s first term in a school of her choice.

“I talked to Bosco and he said that Deogloria was admitted to Mt St Mary’s Namagunga, which she had selected. I sent them transport to come and get the admission papers. They should be here on Friday,”  Besigye said as quoted by Daily Monitor.

Dr Besigye also put out an appeal on social media calling on people to help Ms Ejang realise her education dream. He says that although many have inquired, none has so far contributed.

“A number of people were inquiring how to contribute but I have no information yet whether they’ve done something after I posted the numbers,” the former presidential candidate said.
