The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has asked for an apology from the president of the Democratic Party Nobert Mao for unfairly attacking Besigye because of his political stand and approach.

Addressing journalists at their offices in Najjanakumbi, the part deputy spokesperson John Kikonyogo says that during the launch of DP bloc last week, the members who turned up attacked Dr Kizza Besigye who is an FDC member.

He says that the bloc was supposed to tell Ugandans what they intend to do for the country come 2021 rather than attacking other individuals from the opposition party.

It’s against this background that they want Mao to apologize on behalf of the coalition.

The meeting was attended by a number of political figures including, former FDC President Mugisha Muntu, Kyaddondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, who heads the People Power Movement, among others.

FDC officials say, instead of using the event to sell DP Bloc to Ugandans, most speakers like Dr Bwanika, used it to attack Dr Besigye.

At the event, Dr Bwanika said: “I have heard one person who has now perpetually become a presidential candidate and wants to become one again. I have decided, whether I will remain alone, I will ensure that Ugandans don’t vote that presidential candidate again. I will work on it. It is my mandate because I am aware he is not among those who are coming; he is among those who are going. Therefore, we will not give him space again.”
