Sanbic Uganda Cup Semi-final Draw

The remaining four teams in the 2019 Uganda Cup will this week get to know their opponents to fight for a place in final.

The draw has been scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 10th April 2019 at FUFA House in Mengo.

Express FC, Bright Stars, Kyetume FC and Proline FC are the four remaining clubs to battle for Uganda’s most prestigious knockout competition.

Express is the only remaining club in the competition that has ever won this tournament.

Along with KCCA, Express has also won the tournament for a record 10 times.

The other three clubs – Proline FC, Kyetume FC, and Bright Stars FC shall be playing the semi-finals for their very first time.

Proline FC eliminated last year’s defending champions Vipers SC 2-1 in the quarterfinals.

Kyetume FC were ejected by fellow Elgon group StarTimes FUFA Big League side Wakiso Giants 4-3 in post-match penalties after normal time had failed to produce any goal.

During the last 16 stage, they (Kyetume) had eliminated Kitara 1-0.

Bright Stars FC out-muscled hard battling Nebbi Central 1-0  in the quarterfinals.

Earlier, Bright Stars were 5-4 post penalty winners over Bumate United after a one all draw in normal time during the round of 16 contest.

The semi-final draws will be graced by two former Uganda Cup winners Charles Namakola and Sam Timbe.

Namakola won the championship with Gagama Football Club in 1976 and Timbe was at Nsambya Sports Club as a goalkeeper in 1978.

The defending champions, KCCA were eliminated by Tooro United at the round of 32 stage.

Tooro United was subsequently ejected by Wakiso Giants at the round of 16 level.
