The Uganda Police Force has given a go ahead to Kyadondo East Legislator Kyagulanyi Sentamu, who doubles as Singer Bobi Wine, to hold his Easter Concerts. The news was broken by Promoter Abbey Musinguzi, popularly known as Abitex.
Abitex who has been pushing for the resumption of Bobi Wine’s concerts, was visibly elated by the clearance.
“We have struggled to bring back Bobi to sing for his fans and now he can start at One Love Beach on Easter. We shall hold a tour afterwards,” Abitex told this newspaper.
The clearance which was signed off by Asuman Mugenyi, however gives a raft of conditions that have to be followed. Among these are that the concert should not be political or politically motivated.
In the past, Bobi Wine has ignored police instructions to remain politically silent at his concerts. At Enkuka, the end of year show for the Kingdom of Buganda, Bobi Wine went on and on about his fight for freedom to the dismay of police who had cautioned the organizers.
If the Bobi Wine concerts go ahead this Easter, his fans could have a treat of a lifetime.
Abitex also reveals that Bobi Wine intends to perform in Lira, Gulu and Arua on 3rd, 4th and 5th May 2019, respectively.
