Bobi Wines’s Easter music concert promoters have been arrested.
Officials from Abtex and Bajjo promotion companies which are promoting the concert were reportedly picked by police from One Love Beach, Busabala, Wakiso District.
On Sunday, Police blocked Bobi Wine’s Easter concerts a day after clearing them to take place.
In a communication dated April, 19, 2019 by the Police director in charge of operations, AIGP Asuman Mugyenyi, he informed the organizers that because management failed to meet security guidelines at previous concerts, the upcoming concert is subsequently blocked.
“This is to inform you that despite the elaborate and clear guidelines well stipulated in our correspondence and the previous meetings we had regarding the preparations, the manner, conduct, characteristics and security demands from your side, previous concerts have fallen short of agreed positions,” Mugenyi said.
Police claim that Kyagulanyi’s shows have severally turned into a public nuisance, violated traffic rules and regulations and caused other misconducts, which don’t only bleach law, but endanger the lives of other people who are not even part of his music events.
On Monday morning, police deployed heavily and cordoned off Bobi Wine’s One Love Beach, Busabala in Wakiso district.
“We want to inform the public that the previous Kyarenga concerts, had poor track records that were characterized with multiple incidents, related to public nuisance due to overcrowding, thefts, violation of traffic rules and various misconducts, which were not only a breach of law, but also a danger to the revelers and the lives of other members of the community,” said CP Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson.
Bobi Wine however said he is soon communicating on what next.
“I am now heading to Busabala, I know a lot of police have been deployed there but I’ll communicate to the world what next once I reach there.”
