Bright Stars will hope to take the home advantage as they welcome Express FC to the Champion Stadium in Mwerere on Sunday at 4pm.
Express FC who are without a major trophy since winning the Uganda Premier League in 2012, are the only side still in the competition, that have ever won it.
The Red Eagles are the joint record winners of the cup (10) with KCCA. They last won it 12 years ago (2007).
Going into the contest on Sunday, Express will know that they are favourites for the competition and anything short of winning it, will not be welcome at Wankulukuku.
Bright Stars however go into this game knowing that this is their best chance at winning a first ever major crown in the club’s brief history.
They have been a mid table time all their stay in the top flight with a handful of exceptional players.
George Ssemwogerere, Expresa FC head coach says they are favourites to win the Cup because they have played it over the years.
“We are favourites because we have played this tournament over the years. In fact, we are the record winners. For all the clubs remaining in this competition, Express has the best advantage to win it. The mere fact that we kick off away from home is another advantage to us because we are confident of finishing the job at home in Wankulukuku,” he said.
Paul Kiwanuka, Bright Stars assistant coach on the other says they are not scared of anyone. He adds that they will approach them with aggressiveness.
“Bright Stars has collectively played the previous matches in the Uganda Cup with determination. We are not scared of anyone and shall approach the match with aggressiveness because we are aware of what is at stake,” he said.
Elsewhere, Proline will host Kyetume at the Startimes Stadium Lugogo on Monday in the all Big League side semi final two.
