NGORA COUNTY – It is not yet over for David Abala, until it’s over. The number of political thirsty aspirants for his juicy Ngora seat keeps piling by the day.

John Omugur , the Chop-Stick Pint-sized fellow of Teso Progressive Academy, has declared his intentions to contest for Ngora County seat in full throttle.

This lad with piercing smokey eyes and erudite diction says he is the real deal for Ngora County. There is more to Omugur than looking at the Black Board.

Nicknamed Mr Smart, rarely does smartness come with this kind of turbo charge. In the case of this son of Kobuin, the gods were generous to a fault. The top academic guru is the very definition of dignified African smartness or rather – beauty. Omugur is the figure that stands out in that group photo, whether in a sharp business suit or academic fabric. Tough and no nonsense, Omugur wields alluring political power – should he ascend to, come 2021.

BUT WHO IS HE ANYWAY?

Born in 1981 in a humble village of Kococwa- Olukangor in Kobuin Sub-county, Ngora district, the little Omugur went to Atoot Primary School for his Primary. He exelled and was admitted to Ngora High School for his Post-Primary education pilgrimage.

There was a celebrated school in Tororo called TOPA. This school was hot cake back then. Omugur got convinced due to peer pressure and implored his parents to allow him join TOPA. His wishes were given a green light and Omugur joined his peers at the now defunct Tororo Progressive Academy.

A school venerated and worshiped for its sporting giantry against academics, Omugur defied the odds and triumphed.  Makerere University came knocking and Omugur was in Makerere to pursue education.

He is a celebrated educationist who came to the limelight having taken over headship of the then dying Teso Integrated S.S in Ngora and rejuvenated it to the extent that by 2010, he was the award winner of educator of excellence head teachers category in Kumi district.

He is currently the founder and Director of Teso Progressive Academy, Ngora. It’s one of the best private schools in the region.

Omugur supports over 50 needy students in his school, employs over 50 sons and daughter of Ngora.  He is a great supporter of giving back to the community through community social responsibility.

In sports, He is the owner of Tepa FC. One of the deadly football clubs in Teso region playing in Fufa North East Regional League.

He was a guild contestant for Makerere University 2005/2006. Minister of security Makerere University Students Guild 2005/2006
