On Wednesday, Onduparaka announced the return of tactician Charles Livingstone Mbabazi on a three year deal.
“We are delighted to announce the return of tactician Charles Livingstone Mbabazi who has rejoined us on a 3 Year deal!” reads the statement o Twitter.
The tactician resigned from his role as head coach at Mbarara City last month and he has since been linked with a move to newly promoted Uganda Premier league side Wakiso Giants and SC Villa.
Mbabazi’s return comes just over a week after Onduparaka parted ways with influential play-maker Gadaffi Gadinho.
Gadaffi departed the Caterpillars and signed a two year deal at Mbabazi’s immediate former employers Mbarara City.
At the time Mbabazi left Onduparaka in 2017, he had built a cult status because of what he had been able to do with the side.
Mbabazi had won over hearts of many with his style and ability to turn Onduparaka into a giant killer until things started going south.
Onduparaka hadn’t prepared for things like deep in form, and they didn’t know how to handle themselves in such situations, Mbabazi had to be kicked out.
It was however reported that the tactician had lost power over the dressing room, clashing with senior players consistently.
After his departure from the Caterpillars, Mbabazi went on to impress at Mbarara City FC.
Last season, the former Uganda Cranes midfielder led Mbarara to a 5th placed finished, the highest the Ankole Lions have achieved in a while.
Inspite of the fact that Mbabazi had led Mbarara to the 5th place finish, he tendered in his resignation towards the end of last month.
In his resignation latter, Mbabazi claimed that the club was poorly ran and that he could not continue work in such an environment.
Onduparaka finished 6th with 45 points last season, their best points tally in the top flight since gaining promotion in 2016.
As the club attempts to better last season, they are however facing a player exodus as many seek for greener pastures.
It is understood that both Vianny Ssekajugo and Captain Rashid Toha are on the verge of leaving.
