Manchester United have reportedly offered Phil Jones to West Ham as part of a deal for Issa Diop but the Hammers are not interested in the proposal.

United have made the 22-year-old one of their top transfer targets this summer and offered £40m for him, plus Jones.

However, West Ham do not want to let him go for that price, nor are they interested in the services of the England international in exchange, report the Sun.

The Hammers have not completely ruled out letting Diop go, but are set on getting the right deal, suggesting that Anthony Martial could be exchanged rather than Jones.

Diop only joined West Ham last summer, with the 22-year-old costing the London club £22m from Toulouse.

He is under contract until 2023, so Manuel Pellegrini is under no pressure to let the Frenchman go, although the defender is reportedly interested in the United switch.

Negotiations are set to continue between United and West Ham with the Red Devils needing to come up with a more persuasive offer.

With Jones used, unsuccessfully, as a bargaining chip it questions his future at Old Trafford, despite only signing a new contract in February.

The 27-year-old has been in and out of the United first team ever since his arrival at the club in 2011, rarely holding down a first team place for long, although he has now racked up 216 appearances for the club.

The Red Devils will not want to let Jones go without signing a replacement, but the offer to West Ham confirms that he is willing to be sacrificed this summer.
