Five people from the same family in Buliisa district have died after eating suspected poisoned food.
The deceased are Agnes Naume 30, Robert Omirambe 10, Charles Agenonga 11, Richard Sunday 12 and Moureen Issa 5 all residents of Kilyango village in Ngwedu sub-county Bulliisa district.
Four others are admitted at Buliisa hospital in critical condition. They are Agnes Fambe 16, Paulina Issa 5, Clement Atugonza 12 and Fortunate Mwambe 1.
It is alleged that Naume the mother of the deceased children served cassava flour with beans which had been laced with poison.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says that after eating the food, all the nine family members developed severe stomach complications and developed diarrhoea and vomiting complications.
They were rushed to Buliisa hospital for treatment.
However, five of the family members died. According to Hakiza, the police have launched investigations into the matter.
