Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango has Wednesday confirmed the arrest of one of the suspects who were caught on camera in Mengo killing a boda boda rider.

The arrested suspect has been identified as Mugisha John Bosco alias Mukiga. According to police, he was arrested last night at Nsiike, Ndeeba, Rubaga Division following a tip-off from concerned residents.

Mugisha revealed that on July 2, his colleague ( the second suspect in the CCTV footage) only identified as Young Mulo (not the musician) was killed by a mob that trailed them from Mityana where they had stolen another motorcycle.

Onyango noted that Mugisha had been arrested several times and had been to Luzira Prison on charges of robbery and theft before.

On June 30, 2019, Mugisha and his colleague murdered Derrick Mulindwa a resident of Nabweru who they hit several times on the head using a metal bar, in Kakyeka, Mengo in Rubaga division.

Mugisha confessed that they hailed Mulindwa at around 4 am and pounced on him shortly after. He grabbed Mulindwa by the neck and choked him as his colleague held the motorcycle.

Mugisha’s colleague parked the motorcycle and used the metal bar to hit Mulindwa on the head after pulling off his helmet. They later fled on the stolen motorcycle.

Onyango said the suspect is currently being held at Katwe Police Station and will be charged with robbery and murder.
