Manchester United have dropped from second to SIXTH in Forbes’ list of the most valuable sports teams in the world.

The Red Devils have been overtaken by both Real Madrid and Barcelona after a disappointing 12 months led them missing out on Champions League qualification.

Los Blancos pocketed more than £80m after winning a second-straight Euro crown last summer.

But it is NFL side Dallas Cowboys who retain top spot, with a value of a whopping £4.02 billion.

This is the fourth year in a row the American football franchise have come out highest.

Five other football clubs have made it onto Forbes’ top 50 list – including four from the Premier League.

German giants Bayern Munich (£2.43b) are in 17th spot.

Champions Manchester City (£2.16b) sit in 25th ahead of Chelsea (32nd), Arsenal (42nd) and Liverpool (45th).

The Blues are valued at £2.07b, the Gunners £1.82b and Jurgen Klopp’s Reds at £1.75b.

US baseball side New York Yankees were big movers.

They have sat in the fifth a year ago, but now they have surpassed United, Madrid and Barcelona to go into second.

But it is the NFL who remains the most dominant when it comes to sports leagues.
