Addressing a news conference on Monday at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Kampala, State Minister of finance Evelyn Anite said she has information that the mafias wants to kill her for fighting for UTL.
She says they have been holding meetings at URSB offices and Kampala club.
“A cabal of thugs in government is plotting to kill me. They have held meetings in various places in Kampala. They have recruited people to trail me. They have got printouts of my telephone conversations. When I die, there should be no postmortem,”Anite said as quoted by Nile Post.
“The plan by the mafias is to take Anite out of the picture. I might die but history will judge them harshly. You know the mafias are the ones who have been blocking the audit. Do not live in denial.”
“We shall chase the wrong people out of government and bring the right ones. How do you put public funds on private accounts? I am not seeking attention, these are facts.”
“I have been hearing some Ugandans saying “You girl from Koboko, what do you know? You are just a worker. This government belongs to Banyankole”. That is not what I heard from my president” says Minister Evelyn Anite in a media brief held on Monday morning at Ministry of Finance board room.
Last week, a whistleblower petitioned the IGG asking for investigations into an alleged secret booking from US via France to Mauritius by Anite to meet investors who want to take over UTL.
The hard-talking Anite, however, said the whistleblower petition was the hand of the mafias baying for her blood but noted they will not manage her.
