KCCA FC striker arrested for kidnapping 3 MUBS girls

KCCA’s Nigerian Striker John Egbuonu Odumegwu is under police custody for unlawful confinement of three girls in his house.

According to Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, the incident happened over the weekend when Jinja road police responded to an incident after the 25-year-old footballer had unlawfully confined three MUBS students at his home in Mutungo Bbiina.

“The suspect had invited his girlfriend who came in the company of two other girlfriends at his rented home,” reads a statement from CP Enanga.

“At around 9PM, when the girls asked to leave, he refused them, confiscated their phones and unlawful confined them for 10 hours from 9PM on on 7/12/2019 until 7AM on the following day of 8/12/2019/

“He claimed he feared to release them that night but also accused his girlfriend whom he had known for five days of dating other men.”

Police has identified the girls as Grace Nakibuuka, Margaret Namutebi and Joan Mirembe, all students of MUBS.

“This highlights the hidden reality of many young women’s relationships and a stark reminder of how young adults are vulnerable and need to be more mindful about their security,” he noted.

Enanga, however, noted that Odemwegu’s file has been forwarded to the resident state attorney and any time from now, he will be arraigned before the Nakawa Magistrates court.

Odumegwu had his debut with KCCA away from home when they lost to Tooro United in a game where he managed to win a penalty that was later missed by Mike Mutyaba.

Odumegwu who has scored one goal (against Maroons), has managed to play eight out of the 11 games KCCA has played in the league; starting four.

The striker who came to fill the boots of Patrick Kaddu, has failed to live as advertised, and has seen his place in the starting team taken by youngsters Sam Ssenyonjo of recent.
