Celebrated dancehall artiste Cinderella Sanyu, who also goes by the name Cindy has attacked promoters and fellow artistes for abandoning her.
Cindy who broke a record for a massive show at Lugogo Cricket Oval, took time on stage to attack promoters who refused to work with her. She also lashed out at musicians who she said felt she was not going to do well at the concert.
“I am thankful to the fans who have come out in large numbers to support me. When I reached out to promoters, most of them did not want to work with me. The same happened with fellow musicians. But we have made it today,” Cindy said.
Many critics predicted that the show would flop, because Cindy was believed to have poorly advertised and did not have many hit songs like many of today’s stars. But self-belief, a guerrilla marketing initiative made her work wonders.
The ‘boom party’ singer also failed to lure many sponsors, except Tusker Malt Lager, which gave her support.
Her success opens the door for other female musicians to consider going to Lugogo for mammoth concerts.
