Lorry Plunges into River Nile at Karuma

GULU-A lorry that was carrying a driver and an unknown number of passengers has today plunged into Karuma falls after knocking the rails of Karuma bridge. The driver of the lorry lost control of it when it developed mechanical problems, and the brakes failed to function.

Images from the site show the lorry knocked and damaged at least 37 metres of guard rails of the Karuma bridge, before falling into the River Nile.

Uganda National Roads Authority [UNRA] has announced search efforts and its teams are manning traffic to ensure that vehicles crossing the bridge do not encounter any problem.
