Sheeba Karungi realizes international dream on Coke Studio

Superstar Sheeba Karungi has embraced her Coke Studio appearance with both hands believing that it is the moment for the world to notice her fabulous talent.

“My dream is to become an international artist, not just locked in Uganda, and to be the biggest star I can ever be,” said Sheeba during an interview about her experience at Coke studio Africa. The “Nkwatako” star made her first debut on the Coke Studio Africa platform this year and she was impressed with the East African cocktail music produced by Malawian born music producer settling in South Africa, Gemini Major. Sheeba was paired with one Ethiopian star Asegnew Ashko to create a blend of Ethiopian music and the best of Ugandan dancehall music. The duo thereafter made a collabo with Tanzanian rapper Bill Nass on a hip hop remix of his single “Chafu pozi “.

“Being on Coke studio this year is one of the things that make me feel am on my way now. Am also honoured to be here and that Coke Studio has recognized me,” Sheeba adds. She adds that, “Africa is recognizing me and am happy to be working with talented producers and musicians. I am going to use this opportunity to do everything I can to go to the next level.”

Sheebah emphasized that for one to remain on top of Ugandan music industry, they ought to “be on time, wake up early to do work.” For the past few years, Sheebah has seen her career at its top, ‘nkwatako’ remix with Nigeria’s Solid Star being one of 2017’s greatest projects she has delivered. She has also been seen crowned female artiste of the year at the prestigious Hipipo Awards this year. The former obsessions star is looking forward to a post Coke Studio collaboration with Tanzania’s Bill Nass. Some of the few Ugandan artistes that have featured on Coke Studio Africa this year include Bebe cool, Ykee Benda and Lydia Jazmine.
