Supporters of MP Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine have threatened to protest if police fails to annul the ban imposed on his music concerts in seven days.

They have demanded for an explanation on whether an MP is not allowed to do any other kind of work and if talking about politics is an offence.

“We still want police to politely tell the general public if an MP is not allowed to maintain his profession since this looks like selective justice since other MPs still perform and are not stopped a case in point is Hon Judith Babirye,” said Eddie Kayabula, the chairperson Fire Base Army.

He added that stopping Bobi Wine from holding concerts denies him the right to work.

This follows the police letter issued by Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander Frank Mwesigwa last week denying Kyagulanyi permission to perform at Colline hotel in Mukono.

According to police, Bobi Wine turns his music concerts into political campaigns on age limit.

“Police has cancelled three of my shows one in Kasese, another in Kamuli and now in Mukono,” said Bobi Wine.

Bobi Wine says he has since lost 300 million shillings for his cancelled shows at Colline Hotel Mukono, Kamuli, Busoga and in Kasese district where he had been invited and paid 20 million by his fellow legislator Jackson Mbaju to perform for his supporters in Busongora South County.

The singer has taken police to courts of law claiming for compensation for the losses suffered.
