In the heart of Kabalagala Kampala is a modern boutique for Kids called Gracy Boutique. Located at Embassy Plaza on the way to the American Embassy, we visited them and met with the management of the boutique.
They explained to us about their work and how they are ready to serve customers who have needs for kids items.
Within the store they have clothes, shoes for both boys and girls.
Our interview went as follows:
Monday Times: What exactly does Gracy Boutique do?
Management of Gracy Boutique: We sell clothes, shoes, shocks, underwear and panties, and bags for children. We cover the age group of 0 to 15 years. Clothes we have casual, party, sports, and others like sweaters, jumpers, track suits, and more. We also have baby perfumes, earrings, head bands, bracelets, and other types of kids jewelry.
Monday Times: How different are you from others who sell the same items?
Management of Gracy Boutique: we have been in this business for over four years and so we are experienced and can provide what a parent wants for the kid. We also have quality products that do not depreciate easily. We get from Bangladesh, Vietnam, Turkey, China, and Thailand. The best products from those places.
Our location is accessible and it has parking. We are on the road side and very easy to find.
We have good customer care and treat each customer with dignity and respect. We also make sure that they see the varieties that are available so that they can make a good choice from what we have.
Monday Times: What are your working hours and days?
Management of Gracy Boutique: From Monday to Saturday we open at 9am and close at 8pm. However if a customer is on the way and calls us to wait, we could arrange for that depending on hour discussions. On Sundays we can be available between 8am and 4pm if the customer has an emergency and they can call and arrange an appointment.
Monday Times: How are your prices like?
Management of Gracy Boutique: Our prices are affordable.
Monday Times: Do you do delivery?
Management of Gracy Boutique: We can do it but there are challenges with it. Sometimes the garments might not fit, so it is better for the customer to come here and try out the options for the child. They might know a size that the child has outgrown.
It also limits your choice of variety yet when you come to the shop you can find many more to choose from.
What we can arrange is we could send you pictures of the varieties we have so that you come prepared.
Monday Times: On a question about parents shopping for children, who should decide what the child buys from the shop, the parent or the child?
Management of Gracy Boutique: Well it is good to show love to the child by letting the have their way. But sometimes the child might want sports wear for a different function altogether. So parental guidance is key.
It would have been good for the parent to decide because they know what the item will be used for. But sometimes it might good to go with the wishes of the child
Monday Times: Where are you located?
Management of Gracy Boutique: We are on Embassy Plaza near Stanbic Bank Branch Kabalaga on Gaba Road on the way to the American Embassy from Gaba a few metres after Kingsgate.
