Singer and daughter to the late Tycoon Boney Katatumba, Angela Katatumba is on a charm offensive to control the damage coming from her violent clash with staff at Chicken Tonight in Kabalagala.
The singer who has been acting Honorary Consul of Pakistan in Uganda, since her father’s death, has been conducting several interviews on local radio and television stations. The frenzy has caught the media and her fans by surprise, given that she is a rare feature in the media.
Videos of the incident have drawn mixed feelings from the public. Some have blamed Katatumba for the incident while she has won some sympathy from other sections of the public. Her tormentors are reportedly in jail as investigations into the incident are completed.
Since the incident, which it saw as a diplomatic embarrassment, the Pakistan Embassy in Nairobi dissociated itself from Katatumba, claiming that Pakistan no longer had a representative in Uganda, since the death of Boney Katumba.However Angela Katatumba maintains that it is only the president of Pakistan that can remove her from her position.
