As Singer Bobi Wine (also known as Robert Kyagulanyi) continues to play ping pong with Police at different events, and political scenes, curious observers have wondered how the Kyadondo East legislator continues to evade police in hotels where they fail to find him. In his posts on social media, Bobi Wine keeps informing his fans and supporters how police look for him in his hotel but cannot find him. The incidents have made Bobi Wine grow into a legend of sorts comparable to President Yoweri Museveni, who is alleged to have had the ability to evade the enemy when he was still fighting Milton Obote.
James Atubo, a Jinja based Police Officer, who was involved in the recent scuffle over whether Bobi Wine should perform or not, spoke to this newspaper and said that while the police is certainly not incompetent, the truth is, Bobi Wine books hotel rooms and does not sleep there.
Bobi Wine booked City Hotel in Jinja this month, as he prepared for a concert in the town, but police could not trace him at the hotel.
“There is nothing like having mysterious powers. It is just the case of someone booking a hotel room and not sleeping there, so he wants to create a feeling that he has mysterious powers that can evade arrest, yet that is the simple logic,” Constable Atubo said.
When pressed on why the police keeps blocking Bobi Wine’s concerts even when he has got clearance, the Jinja based police officer said he could not speak about events outside Jinja.
