Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) President Moses Magogo has disclosed that Airtel has committed another USD 2.5M (UShs 10 billion) in sponsorship for the next four years. Magogo made the revelations on his social media page, Facebook.
“Another milestone…FUFA and Airtel renew the Uganda Cranes Sponsorship to a tune of over 2.8m USD over 4 years. The biggest sponsorship ever in our history
This is another signature of confidence from Our Sponsors upon whose arrival in 2013 we have been able to register historic sporting achievements.
With Government already in advanced stages of providing a budget line in the national budget for football and more sponsors negotiating with FUFA, we believe we will have the resources to execute the 5 year FUFA strategic plan
Thank you the Uganda Cranes Players and coaches, FUFA Exco and staff, the ethical media and all who have made this happen.
We achieve this together with our dear fans.”
The Airtel renewal of sponsorship shows further confidence in the work of FUFA and the performance of the Uganda Cranes, which last year qualified for the African Cup of Nations for the first time since 1978. Recently Moses Magogo lamented on Facebook about the inadequate support of the Cranes, which affected their chances of qualifying for the world cup.
