Former Kenya coach Adel Amrouche is among the candidates that are in line for the coach job for Uganda Cranes.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) stopped receiving applications for the job five days ago but Amrouche is understood to have applied.
Three months ago FUFA started receiving applications when coach Milutin Sredojevic Micho quit over arrears. Amrouche made it clear he wouldn’t say no to an opportunity of managing the Cranes.
“I can’t say no to coach the cranes, I want to work with great players like Dennis Onyango, Farouk Miya and all the others,” he said.
The sources close to the 49 year old Algerian confirmed that he has already submitted in his application.
He has managed among others Equatorial Guinea, Algeria giants USM Algers and DR Congo’s Darling Club Motema Pembe.
Amrouche holds a CAF A coaching license, and UEFA Pro License he attained in 2013-14 among other qualifications.
While in Kenya, he is credited with nurturing and giving chances to David “Calabar” Owino (Zambia), David “Cheche” Ochieng (USA), Francis Kahata, Allan Wanga, Aboud Omar (Bulgaria).
Amrouche was at the helm when Kenya won the 2013 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup beating Sudan in the finals.
Other coaches that have shown interest in the Cranes job include the former cranes coach Bobby Williamson, Moses Basena, Jackson Mayanja, Sam Timbe and Lucy Eymael among others.
The permanent Cranes coach will be announced on November 15, 2017.
