Students at Makerere University threw NBS TV news reporter Canary Mugume out of a meeting they were having with top management on Monday.

The irate students claimed they were not happy with Mugume’s “biased reporting” and accuse him of siding with their “oppressor” (University management) while covering the ongoing strike.

They said that the reporter was against their efforts to force the University to drop the policy when he reported that there was calm at the University last week which they claimed was a lie.

One student who preferred anonymity is quoted saying that Mugume and his workmate Samson Kasumba were on the side of ‘our tormentor’ adding that they will not be allowed to cover events at the University again.

“Mugeme had a damning report on mak strike last week on Wednesday, downplaying that there is a strike at Makerere. He also carried propaganda that mak students are under influence of drugs. This was a statement by the acting VC.” The Student Said.

The students were in a closed door meeting in the main building to resolve the ongoing strike against the 15% cumulative tuition policy when Mugume together with his cameraman entered the venue.

These were welcomed with insults from an already charged audience who ordered for their exit. They seemed to have taken it as a joke until Students threatened to beat Mugume when Police advised him to leave.
