Renowned events promoter, Barugahare Balaam Ateenyi has dragged Andrew Bajjo to court for causing damages to his name after the People Power activist posted on his Facebook page stating that Balaam has registered ‘People Power’ as an organisation.
“The above allegations are not only false but they have also provoked a hate campaign on social media laden with abuse and insults against our client. For the record, our client has never registered the words or name people power and he has no intention of registering those words at all,” reads the letter in part.
Speaking with journalists in a press conference at his office this (Tuesday) evening, Balaam said he only saw the information in the news but has not registered any organisation.
“The power to register a company is rested upon Uganda Registration Service Bureau (URSB) and I don’t think I have reached URSB in the last 6 years neither has my lawyer registered the company on my behalf. But if there is anyone who has registered the company, I congratulate them for creating job opportunities for the unemployed youths,” Balaam said.
The accused also added that he has received the award for being the most abused person in a single day but he is not taking this lightly.
“I have received many insults for the past one week and I am not taking this for granted! Bajjo is the person behind this and he must dance to the tune now,” he added.
In a letter dated 27th January 2019, through Muwema Copany Advocates, Bajjo (Facebook Bajjo Eventz Clear Process) has been instructed to pay an estimated amount of Ushs 1 billion for the offensive data publication together with Ushs 50 million legal fees within 5 days.

Bajjo has been ordered to pull down the post and apologize on his Facebook page unconditionally within a period of 2 days.
He further warned Kawempe North Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) councilor, Muhammad Ssegirinya for threatening him on Facebook with his stick adding that the legislator must come out and apologise unconditionally or face the charges.
