Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate and party president Kizza Besigye has denied being scared of new political kid on the block Bobi Wine.
While appearing on NTV’s political talk show ‘On The Spot’ on Thursday, the four time
presidential candidate and the leading opposition figure in the Ugandan politics, Dr. Kizza
Besigye revealed that he is not scared of Hon. Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi alias Bobi
Wine’s influence on the Uganda’s politics.
“Why should I be scared of Bobi? This is just another diversionary discussion. I am not in
this struggle to be the President of Uganda; the struggle is about regaining influence, living in dignity and having freedom and rights,” he said.
“After people have regained their freedom and power, then they can choose who they want as their leader. They then will make the laws to govern them and choose how their country should be run because power will be theirs,” he added.
Besigye also disclosed that 2019 is the year of action and those who don’t want to try to cause change, should stay in their homes urging those interested in the change of leadership to continue working hard to cause the change.
“We still have a challenge of people who see the problem but think tackling it affects their
comfort zone but soon or later, they will also become uncomfortable and will finally join us
in the struggle,” he said adding that he will stay in the struggle until change comes.
The current political stand in Uganda is steadily shifting towards the youth with young
politicians rising to challenge the status quo.
The rise of the Kyadondo East Legislator, Bobi Wine seems to provide hope and optimism for an eventual takeover by the youths. Bobi’s emergence in politics is making some political figures unpopular and they have resorted to violence and intimidations against those working with the young leaders in the country.
