A mob in Bulange Mengo attacked Kizza Besigye as they shouted ‘People Power’ chants. Kyadondo East MP Bobi Wine cites malicious play to tarnish his movement’s image.

On Saturday afternoon, F.D.C stronghold Dr Kizza Besigye was whisked away from Bulange Mengo after being attacked by a group of youths who kept chanting against him.

Besigye was rounded up as he made his way to his vehicle after talking on the Parliament Yaffe program on CBS FM.

The youths surrounded Besigye, chanting “We Want Bobi Not Besigye,” before the former Presidential candidate was helped into his vehicle by aides and sped off.

On learning of the developments, People Power’s main man Bobi Wine made a statement in regret to what the youths had done to fellow opposition leader.

“Regarding this specific event, we’re trying to establish clear facts surrounding the incident,” Bobi Wine said in a statement.

“Followers of the politics of this country will understand that such stunts and machinations have in the past been stage-managed by the state and other actors to achieve political objectives”

Bobi however maintained that People Power is a non-violent movement which condones acts of violence against anyone.

He also left a statement of doubt saying that it could have been staged by the State to paint a bad picture around his movement;
