Andrew Mwenda
Andrew Mwenda the Independent Magazine chief editor has responded to Bobi Wine on what he calls hurling insults and abuses at him. In his post on social media on Friday morning, Mwenda says that Honourable Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine, just like his followers sound intelligent but are a waste of brains.
“Bobi wine has empty slogans and lacks historic and contemporary facts,” Mwenda says. “I write what I believe. If you don’t like what I write, just quit this page,” Mwenda says. He adds that responses on his post on Bobi Wine’s nature proved more that Bobi Wine and his supporters reflect the crisis of Uganda not a solution to its challenges. He says that most of Bobi’s fans are misguided.
“One of his admirers, a one Henry Mutebi, wrote a long dissertation of 2,257 words to reply to my post of only 542 words. He devoted his considerable intellectual talent in dissecting my personality, even claiming I am mentally ill and need psychotherapy. Perhaps I am. I will check at Butabika since it is near my home,” Mwenda adds.
Mwenda includes that he deals with President Museveni who, in spite of his faults, is a much more liberal, tolerant and open-minded person with a sense of maturity than his opponents.
“I only go to see him when there is an issue I consider of serious national concern. And I go with well-researched facts. And to his credit, each time I have gone seeking a particular decision, Museveni has always listened carefully to the facts I present to him and he has always accepted my recommendations,” Mwenda notes.
Mwenda adds that Museveni is scientific unlike his opponents who rely on hallucinations and rumors to inform their opinions on public policy “That is why he is president and they are activists and singers,” Mwenda writes. He asserts that most Ugandan elites he encounter online are lazy, intellectually dull, always thinking within the box and taking no lessons from history. He notes that he is unapologetic to those who mistake his attitude for arrogance. “The problem that is keeping Museveni in power is that most of those posing as the opposition are worse – uncouth, intolerant, anti-democratic, uninformed and angry. And I know most of you will mistake “most” for “all.” The opposition lack alternative ideas and believe their anger is sufficient to cause change,” Mwenda adds. It should be noted that Andrew Mwenda and Bobi Wine have been exchanging sharp words on social media in line with the “k’ogikwatako” matter.
