Police in Bukedea district is holding a woman for allegedly dumping her 1-week old baby boy in a pit latrine.
The suspect has been identified as Fiona Adeke, a resident of Aloet trading centre in Bukedea district.
According to Police, they received a call that a baby had been dumped in a latrine and rushed to the scene. They teamed up with residents and recovered the baby alive.
Upon interrogation, she claims that her husband denied the responsibility of fathering her baby prompting her to take such a drastic action.
She added that her next move was to take her own life since she would not manage to live with a shame of being ‘a killer’.
Adeke is currently detained at Bukedea central police station as she awaits charges of attempted murder
