President Yoweri Museveni has today launched Bukona Agro-processors sugar factory and distillery. The multi-million investment was established by Mr.Praviin Krekal.

Located in Koch Goma, Nwoya District, the factor is expected to boost employment and welfare of farmers in the area.

Bukona Agro-processors also opened the Green Fuel Uganda Project, through which they manufacture energy-saving stoves. The stoves are powered by ethanol extracted from processed cassava.

President Museveni commended the company and the investor for setting up projects which can get the residents of the area out of poverty.

“If this initiative is successful, it will be key in helping our people who grow cassava to get out of poverty. We would be able to export fuel made from cassava to other countries. Cassava residue can also be turned into animal feeds,” President Museveni said.

He also commend the community of Nwoya for avoiding sectarianism by working closely with this investor even when he’s not a native.

“It is important to work harmoniously with other people irrespective of their nationality or tribe. Congratulations to the investor for this undertaking and government will support it,” President Museveni said.
