Retired Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala, the most senior leader in the Catholic Church has spoken out against the mad rush for wealth in this generation.
Wamala made the statements to some faithfuls who visited him this morning, lead by Digital Marketing Specialist Denis Nabende.
Quoting Cardinal Wamala, Nabende revealed on social media the words of the senior cleric;
“Audience with HE Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala this morning:
“Don’t be in a mad dash to be wealthy. If you ever get wealthy,let your wealth have character and not be primitive. Work diligently and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. However,remember mistakes have consequences don’t normalize them. Be humble and always do good.””
Wamala’s statements echo those of several leaders who have recently spoken out against greed in a consumerist society. Pope Francis was quoted during his New Year message as lambasting the culture of greed that has engrossed society today.
