The Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC) the Assembly of Bishops in Uganda is set to launch the biggest television station in the country. Sources at the Catholic Secretariat in Nsambya, where the process of setting up the station is taking place say it will have a footprint in every corner of the country.

“The station is called the Uganda Catholic Television-UCT. It should be on air before the end of the year,” one of the project manners told this newspaper.

A few days ago, the Catholic Church received their national broadcasting license, which clears the way for them to broadcast to the whole country without any hinderance.

The move by the church to start its own television station was long overdue. With smaller churches setting up their own television stations, it was only a matter of time before the Catholic Church swung in a big way.

The launch of the station is planned to take place before Martyrs Day, 3rd June, 2018, a day that is revered in the Catholic Church. Sources familiar with the project say it has been in the pipeline since 2010, but it only gained momentum about two years ago.
