All is not well with Ugandan music superstar Jose Chameleone, after a one Zaina Muwonge, yesterday dragged him to court for breach of contract to perform.

Zaina Muwonge through her company Sezana Promotions allegedly booked Chameleone for a concert in 2015. The concert dubbed ‘Wale Wale’ was in the form of a tour in Durban, East London, Pretoria and Cape Town South Africa.

After receiving an advance of Shs 15M from Muwonge,  Chameleone did not honor the contract. She incurred costs of advertising, which ran into millions of shillings, with the hope that she would make more money and post a profit.

Court documents filed by Lukwago and Company Advocates quote Muwonge as follows:

“In fulfilment of my obligation, I went ahead and effected part payment of Shs15m to the defendant (Chameleone).”

Later she added Shs 11M for transporting Chameleone and his crew for the concerts. She booked hotels and accomdation for Chameleone, who then switched off his phones on the day he was expected to travel to South Africa. After a few months, Chameleone promised to compensate her loss by doing another show in South Africa.

Elated by the offer, Zaina Muwonge organized another concert in 2016 and Chameleone switched off his phone a few hours to his scheduled flight.

She wants her money refunded with interest. She also wants to be paid damages for causing injury to her reputation and leading to the destruction of property as a result of the cancelled concerts.
