Dr.Julius Matsiko is an expert in chemistry, who has published books that enable people to learn chemistry. He spoke to us today on how these books can be obtained and how they help students understand and pass chemistry.
Monday Times: Goodmorning Dr.Julius Matsiko. Tell us a bit about your work and the books that you publish.
Dr.Julius Matsiko: I am an author of middle secondary and high school chemistry practical hand books. I am also preparing a text book for Advanced Level Chemistry. These books are designed to enhance the understanding of chemistry among students and perhaps teachers and lecturers involved with the teaching of chemistry in Uganda and beyond.
Monday Times: What makes you different from other authors of similar books?
Dr.Julius Matsiko: The bible teaches me not to judge but to the best of my knowledge, I strive to give my best to everything I do.
Monday Times: What hours of the day and the week can people reach you to acquire these books?
Dr.Julius Matsiko: I work from 8 to 5 and sometimes extend from around 9 to 11 pm. I spend six hours in traffic daily on average. I work from Monday to Friday and seldomly on Saturday.
Monday Times: Do you have delivery services or must those who want to acquire the books come to where you are?
Dr.Julius Matsiko: Most times we deliver on order. If the school is within our reach, we go there ourselves. Otherwise, we use public means and link the bus driver with the academic heads of the corresponding schools.
Monday Times: How are your prices like?
Dr.Julius Matsiko: Prices are negotiable and range from Uganda Shillings 10,000 to 20,000 depending on the number of copies.
Monday Times: So how long does it take for the book to reach the purchaser?
Dr.Julius Matsiko: Once an order is placed, we take day to deliver if the books are readily available in stock. For those that need to go through the production process, four days should be enough.
