Two people have perished and one injured seriously following a nasty accident along the Kabale-Kisoro highway.
Hillary Namanya, the Programs Manager of Rukundo International, a local Non-Government Organization in Kabale and his wife, Barbra Natukunda crashed around 5:30pm on Friday at Kagano along Kabale Kisoro road in Kanaba Sub-county Kisoro district in their Toyota mark II vehicle registration number UAG 044 M.
William Tumuhairwe, the Officer in Charge of Traffic at Kisoro police station, says the vehicle that was being driven by Natukunda failed to negotiate a corner at Kagano trading centre and swerved off the road before rolling several times.
The 3rd occupant one Guhirwa Rachael survived the accident and was rescued and taken to Mutolere Hospital where she is currently admitted.
It is alleged that on Friday the couple left Kabale heading to Kisoro accompanying one Guhirwa Racheal (survivor) who was to have a scientific wedding with Yumvirusaba Nelson of Gisha village, Chahafi parish, Murora sub-county in Kisoro district.
The temporary movement permit that was found at the scene – issued by the Kabale RDC darious Nandinda on June 5, indicated that they were travelling to Kisoro for a ‘scientific’ wedding.
He says that the body of the deceased have been taken to Kisoro hospital mortuary for post morterm as the other third occupant is admitted at Kisoro hospital as the totalled vehicle has been towed to Kisoro police station.
Natukunda was to be the matron of Ms Guhirwa
