The extremely poor performance of Uganda Cranes at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco has dampened fans hopes that new coach Sebastien Desabre will lead the national team anywhere.
Although the Cranes style of play has remarkably improved, their lack of triumph in any game puts Desabre in a precarious position. Pundits say it is too early to judge a man who took over the mantle a few days ago.
A Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) official who we talked to and who spoke on condition of anonymity said Desabre should be given time.
“While we understand fan pressure, we need to give the man time. He has just joined and needs to get used to the team and see what formations can be adopted to get success. Fans are hungry for quick success, but we are patient,” the official said.
Sebastien Desabre has faced criticism from management experts who say his CV did not look like the best person for the job, although he could prove them wrong.
Desabre replaced Milutin Micho, who took Uganda Cranes to the African Cup of Nations, for the first time in many decades.
