Cristiano Ronaldo has won the Ballon D’or, football’s top crown for the second year running. The event held in London yesterday was part of the FIFa’s The Best awards gala.Ronaldo was pitted against rival Lionel Messi and Neymar for the prestigious awards. Messi and Neymar were runners up.

The Ballon d’or is voted for by national team coaches and captains together with the media and fans.

Central to Ronaldo’s accolade was Real Madrid’s performance this year, where they won a La Liga and the Campions League.

Ronaldo’s manager Zinedine Zidane won the manager of the year award for inspiring Real Madrid to their double.

Other Madrid players featured in the Fifa’s best XI of the year. They were Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Marcelo, and Sergio Ramos.

Responding to his victory, Ronaldo said it all felt great. “I am 32, and I have won the Ballon d’or,” he said.
