We are at Dynasty Unisex Salon where we met Madam Jane Nume, the proprietor. She is a lady with many years of experience in beauty service. She trained at the prestigious Kenya School of Hairdressing where she earned the Diplome Specialiste Permanente. Madam Jane told us about their work and what makes them unique.
Monday Times: What does Dynasty Unisex Salon do?
Madam Jane Nume: I do hair treatment with chemicals, colors and cuts. We also have other services such weaving, treatment, braids, dreadlocks, make up, pedicure and manicure.
We have bridal services.
We do internship for those in beauty schools who can come and do practicals here.
Highlight and tint
(Tint you color the whole head while highlight you put color on a small part).For highlight there is a cap we use. We put on some small dots of color.
My colleague Emma does a lot of the hair styles that people also like.
Monday Times: What is your point of difference?
Madam Jane Nume:We have a lot of knowledge about hair dressing and technical knowledge in doing this.

Monday Times: What are your working hours and days
Madam Jane Nume: We work from Monday to Sunday from 8am to the time when the customer gets out.
Monday Times: What should someone who wants good quality hair, do to maintain their hair?
Madam Jane Nume: a professional hair dresser matters a lot. He or she can give you good advice that can help you to get advice for your hair. What texture of hair, what chemical can I use, what treatment can I offer. A trained hair dresser can tell you. It takes a bit of time up to six months to correct damaged hair.
Monday Times: How are your prices?
Madam Jane Nume:They are affordable and negotiable but it depends on what you need to do with the hair.
Monday Times: If a customer wants you to come and work on their hair at their home or office would you do so?
Madam Jane Nume:Yes as long as the terms are agreed especially the additional cost of transport for me to reach their premises.
