Close to 4 months after winning the money, the family of Esther and Ezekiel, the winners of $50,000 (sh184m) grand prize of the first edition of East Africa’s Got Talent have not received the money leaving the family in fear that they could have been duped.

According to a statement shared on the duo’s social media, they indicate that the delay in releasing the funds has left them frustrated.

“Hey Beloved ones, we are beyond frustrated, l am writing this to seek speedy resolution to the delayed release of East Africa Has Got Talent $50,000 cash prize that was supposed to be given to us the winners! Don’t get me wrong it’s been such an amazing experience very humbling meeting the president, inspiring other young kids and all the amazing people we’ve met along the way!” reads the statement.

It further adds, “While we appreciate the platform EAGT gave us, it’s their duty as well to fulfill the promises. This is a serious concern to us as the funds are delayed, no one from EAGT has reached out to us. Like you recall, we promised to donate some of the money to different charities and wouldn’t want to make empty promises!”

However, minutes after, the young siblings went on their official account and denied posting any laments, and blamed it on a ghost account, but didn’t clear whether they received the prize money or not.
