Monday Times: Who do you believe, inspired you into music?

Esther Nabatanzi: My parents inspired me into music. They have nurtured me and encouraged my talent. My back group is church. At the age of 10 years, I trained a Sunday school choir which won the inter- church competition.

Monday Times: Great. So music definitely runs in your family. Who else sings within your family?

Esther Nabatanzi: My daddy Omutaka Grace Ssemakula Ndungwa is a singer. He used to sing in a band but he is also a good writer. He was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ngabo newspapers in the early 1990s, and a writer for Bukedde newspaper.

He is also the author of one of my favourite books called ‘Amazina ga Nakkwale’.I share the same gift of singing and writing with him.

Monday Times: This is impressive. So what message does your music carry?

Esther Nabatanzi: My music carries a message of love, challenges of life and lifting God.

Monday Times: Okay. When it comes to putting your music together, who writes your songs?

Esther Nabatanzi: I take from my daddy the gift of writing. I write my music with the help of my daddy who panel bits and contributes to my lyrics.

Monday Times: Do you play any instruments?

Esther Nabatanzi: I am learning to play a guitar. I hope to also learn how to play a Piano.

Monday Times: What do you like most about music as a career?

Esther Nabatanzi: Music comes natural to me. All the steps I take in this career are a mere experience.
Monday Times: How can someone contact you if they would like to see your work or hire you for a concert?

Esther Nabatanzi: I can be contacted through my Facebook page @Esther Nabatanzi. From there, my management is always in position to respond or I can personally respond.
Monday Times: Okay. In terms of the future, where do you see yourself in five years?

Esther Nabatanzi: Singing at cross cultural stages and performing on international stages.
Monday Times: What advice do you give anyone intending to join the music industry today?
Esther Nabatanzi:  Music favours talent and hardwork, but hardwork beats talent.I have just started my journey for commercial music, so I am still learning a few things here and there.
Monday Times: What musician would you like to do a collaboration with today if the opportunity arose?
Esther Nabatanzi: I have respect for most singers in the industry. I am giving myself two years to settle in well. Time will only tell who I will do a collaboration with or will have done one already in those two years.
Monday Times: If you were not a musician, which career would you be pursuing?
Esther Nabatanzi: I would be an accountant, since I am good at numbers, which i also did for my first degree and still pursing it.
Monday Times: How do you normally spend your free time?
Esther Nabatanzi: Being an introvert, I have a small circle of friends who enjoy traveling like I do. I like reading which helps me improve my writing skills but I also like working out in the gym.
Monday Times: Any last words for your fans?
Esther Nabatanzi: Thank you accepting me and my art, also walking with me on this journey. Let us grow the fan base and wait for what the future holds for us.Again thank you for your support.
