Minutes after receiving a cash donation of Uganda Shillings 30 million sent by President Yoweri Museveni, Pastor Tom Ngobi of World Revival Centre Church predicted that Museveni would win the next elections whether in 2021 or 2023. The money was delivered by State House Comptroller Lucy Nakyobe, who emphasized that the money was to fight poverty.
Of late, President Museveni has looked to religious institutions as platforms through which to increase efforts to fight poverty in the country. A few weeks ago he became cozy with his perennial critics in the Inter-Religious Council by inviting them to discuss how to fight poverty. He later promised huge sums of money to their respective organizations, which would help in the fight against poverty.
The little known Pastor Tom Ngobi however was more energized by the cash.
“I have no doubt President Museveni will automatically win the next election because he respects God the controller of everything compared to his political opponents who are always just looking at us as mushrooming churches without any value to society,’’ Pastor Ngobi said.
It is not yet clear whether the elections shall be held in 2021 or 2023, because a ruling on the constitutional matter is yet to be delivered by the courts of law.
