Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) incoming president Patrick Amuriat will be sworn in today after his previous and hurriedly swear in ceremony was nullified. Amuriat a week ago beat outgoing president Mugisha Muntu in the polls held at Namboole.
The swearing in ceremony will be held at the FDC headquarters in Najjanankumbi. It is expected to be attended by former FDC president Dr Kizza Besigye, Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and several dignitaries.
It will also be conducted by Ladislaus Rwakafuzi one of the party’s lawyers.
Mugisha Muntu will officially hand over the party to Amuriat who he will brief in a closed door meeting. Amuriat will be taken around the party offices and will officially meet staff who he will lead.
Shortly after the election tensions escalated in the party with a section loyal to Muntu threatening to break away from the party. The Muntu group dominated by members of parliament threatened to break away, but after a press conference held on Wednesday, they backed down.
At the press conference, Muntu said that it was important for the party to remain together and to stay focused on its core objective.
