Television Star Flavia Namulindwa has joined the race of celebrities who are aspiring for parliamentary seats come 2021 or 2021. Namulindwa who works on Bukedde Television says she is ready to join the likes of Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), Judith Babirye, Kato Lubwama and Peter Sematimba.
Other celebrities who have expressed interest in standing for parliament are: Dr.Hildaman, Ronald Mayinja, Geoffrey Lutaaya, and Geoffrey Kayemba, the manager of Chris Evans and Rema Namakula.
Since Bobi Wine sailed through to parliament, a new generation of celebrities are dusting their suits and dresses to hit the campaign trail.
A close confidant of Namulindwa speaking to us on condition of anonymity says Namulindwa has already made a budget for the grueling campaign period for a seat for Gomba.
“Do not be surprised if she comes around asking your company to contribute some cash, because others have started dusting their wallets to offer her some,” the source said.
A Member of Parliament in Uganda earns about Uganda Shillings 30,000,000 (Thirty Million) in consolidated earnings throughout the month. The hefty amount would be a huge jump for Flavia Namulindwa who earns Uganda Shillings 2,000,000 (Two Million) at Vision Group.
Her employers have not commented on the matter of her interest in the August House. Her shows are some of the biggest on the television station.
