Madam Winnie Mukwaba

Our interview went as follows:

Monday Times: How did you come up with the name Fot Arm?

Madam Winnie Mukwaba: My daughter is called Fortunate and the last born baby is Armstrong.

Monday Times: What does Fort Arm Kindergarten and Day Care do?

Madam Winnie Mukwaba: It is a Daycare and Kindergarten.

In the Daycare We look after young kids from three months until when they are just ready to start schools. We assist parents who do not have maids and are over loaded with work from morning to evening.

Kindergarten. At the kindergarten we have from baby to middle to top. We are looking at two or three and a half years to probably six years depending on the development of the child.

Monday Times: How different are you from other Daycares and Kindergartens?

Madam Winnie Mukwaba: We are all round we concentrate on everything not only academics. We want to develop the child’s special talents along with their academic performance.

We are Christian based and so we impart values that can build the child into a good person.

I am experienced and have a background of teaching in international schools which is an added advantage when it came to organizing our curricula and extra curricula activities.

We are strict on supervision. We look after each kid every minute of their presence at the school.

Monday Times: What are your opening and closing hours?

Madam Winnie Mukwaba: We open early but officially it is 8am. Some parents wake up very early and they want to bring their kids. We end at 5pm but might wait for a parent beyond that time at a cost.

Monday Times: How are your fees like?

Madam Winnie Mukwaba: Our fees are affordable and are tailored to the services that we offer. Whatever amount we charge is value given to the child.

Monday Times:  Do you take your services of registration out to interested parents?

Madam Winnie Mukwaba: Yes we do. We are flexible and can register a child wherever they are.

Monday Times: Can you organize picking and dropping of a child?

Madam Winnie Mukwaba: Yes we do that.

Monday Times:  How do you handle a child who is consistently performing poorly yet his peers are making progress?

Madam Winnie Mukwaba: We start with assessment. We do differentiation we put them in different groups, with the bright ones in one group and the others in other groups so that they do not feel inferior. Then we give them more time so that they can catch in a less intimidating environment. We also motivate them.

Monday Times:  Where are you located?

Madam Winnie Mukwaba: We are located in Kiwatule opposite St.John Church.

Monday Times: What are your business phone numbers?

Madam Winnie Mukwaba: 0772490880/0701098609
