Four Confirmed Dead, Several Injured In Nakasongola Link Bus Accident

Four people have been confirmed dead in the Nakasongola horrible link bus accident.

A traffic police officer at the scene of the accident, who preferred anonymity to speak freely, said about 20 people who were injured have been taken to several health centres including  Nakasongola Health Centre IV.

The Link Bus registration number, UBA 332B, that left Kampala at 8’Oclock headed for Masindi, swerved off the road and overturned with over 50 passengers on board.

Traffic Police reports confirmed that the bus lost control after the front tyre burst and overturned several times, killing the driver on spot.

The body of the bus driver, according to witnesses, is still stuck in the wreckage.

Namayonjo is listed among the most dangerous black spots along the Kampala – Gulu highway.

A number of nasty accidents have occurred along the Kampala-Gulu highway in recent months. Among them was an accident that claimed the lives of 23 people and injured 14  others in May, 2018. The accident involved a Gaagaa Bus registration number UAK 562L  and a cargo lorry registration number UAT 088 J / UAT 321M and a tractor registration  number UAU 872 M.

Another accident killed five people and three others were critically injured at Namayonjo village, Nakasongola along the Kampala- Gulu highway. This involved two cars, a Toyota  Hiace registration number UBD 061D belonging to Pepsi Cola ‘Twangula promotion’, a  Pick-Up UAX 182F loaded with chicken and a motorcycle. Police blame the most accidents  on over speeding.
