Senior Presidential Advisor Lieutenant General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has rapped police and bouncers for failing to guard against revelers pelting empty bottles at Bebe Cool last Saturday. The incident which took place during Cindy’s concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval, has drawn widespread condemnation from NRM supporters, while opposition enthusiasts cheered at the incident. Muhoozi’s post made on twitter today read as follows:
“How could @PoliceUg and the bouncers at Cindy’s Concert allow a few hooligans to hurl bottles at one of Uganda’s greatest artists?? The same hooligans beat up women (on Women’s Day) for simply loving @KagutaMuseveni and @BebeCoolUg. We expect a lot better next time from @PoliceUg.” The tweet, which has gone viral has drawn attention to security at concerts.
A source at the Uganda Police Force, told this newspaper that arrangements are being made to safeguard artistes in future concerts. One consideration on the table is for promoters who fail to prevent these incidents from happening, being stopped from organizing future concerts. Another issue under consideration is that any concert that experiences such an incident would be stopped at the time the incident happens.
