Ministry of Gender Labor and Social Development has suspended the licenses of 6 labor externalization companies, which are accused of faulting the set rules and regulations.
The spokesperson of the Gender Ministry, Frank Mugabi, said Middle East Consultants, Ellite Placement Consulting, Eagle Supervision, Ellite Winners Agency, Spotlight International and High Ground International Ltd were involved in charging illegal registration and placement fees from its clients.
Mr Mugabi said some of these companies such as Middle East Consultants Ltd had been suspended and warned over the same procedures but they have not complied.
“When we went and inspected, after a number of complaints we found that many of them had not complied, so they are all suspended,” he said.
Just weeks ago on January 23, Middle East Consultants was allowed to resume business following an appeal.
The company had been suspended on allegations that they “flouted Labour laws, and were involved in extortion, forgery, and violating human rights.”
In the latest suspension, Middle East and 5 other companies are said to have been charging an illegal registration and placement fee from its clients.
The other 5 are Ellite Placement Consulting, Eagle Supervision, Ellite Winners Agency, Spotlight International and High Ground International Ltd.
Speaking to SmartTV24, The Gender Ministry spokesperson Frank Mugabi said these companies had been ordered to refund the fees they had charged illegally.
“But when we went and inspected, after a number of complaints we found that many of them had not complied, so they are all suspended,” he said.
